The Sharada Math Ashram is only a 5 minute walk up the Kasar Devi hill from Masi's place (which was Masi's main incentive for renting a place here). The flowers in the Ashram gardens are completely lovely, probably because the forest fire that destroyed the garden this summer left the soil richer. The fire got dangerously close and was doused only a couple of metres away from the main building.
The Ashram has an even wider view of the Himalayas than Ganga Niwas (Masi's place) but the Deodar trees obstructed the full view in this picture.

Kumkum Di inspects the flowers. She's been in charge of this place from 1995 - back when it was just a twinkle in the eye of the visiting Sanyasinis ;-) who had come to scout out land for a new centre.

Got up this morning and saw this lovely view of the mist in the Kosi Valley.
Masi peeling oranges in the morning for dessert
The Kosi valley later in the day.
On the left is the Trishul Wall (it looks like a real Trishul from other angles, such as Kausani), on the right is Nanda Devi West (the highest mountain in these parts at 7817m/25645 ft. The clear skies have been getting cloudier during the afternoon but they usually clear up by the evening. Everyone here says that the snowline is only half as low as it normally is by this time of the year. Can't wait to see what that looks like.
